TREMENDUM ETT FASCINOSUM - A SENSE OF WONDER
Det oerhörda. Det annorlunda. Det flamboyanta.      
Flykten till det vilda - det annorlunda (Motkulturen). Det innefattar ett etnografiskt någonting. T ex ”Hur levde indianerna? Hur gör man för att hantera tillvaron som dem.

  2. Indianernas attityd till romatiseringen.
    Man skall inte inbilla sig att inte indianerna spelade med. Platåindianerna älskade uppenbarligen fransar och fjädrar. Kicking Bears bror Flying Hawk var ytterst noga med att indianer skall synas i full regalia, vare sig det var Western shower, parader eller annat.
    Att skapa en farlig fiende - Nedsättande eller berättartrick.Att som flertalet ”kännare” av indianböcker och indiansk liv menat att man demoniserat indianen av rasistiska skäl kan ha en annan sida. Den romantiska ”tremendum et fascinosum” devisen kan delvis förklara detta. Man behövde naturligtvis en ”farlig” fiende för att skapa spänning. Ofta lade man emellertid in en reservationspassage, där man förklarade att indianen var trängd, eller lurad av gangsters eller något liknande. Det romantiska synsättet gör även den farlige indianen till något beundransvärt.
